The ‘Rudder’ Trophy by Maestro Rando for the Winners of the BGY Airport Granfondo 2025

Once again, a precious bronze bas-relief created by the renowned artist will reward the overall winners of the international amateur race, scheduled for Sunday, May 4, 2025, in Bergamo. A replica medal will be awarded to all finishers.

For the 2025 edition of the BGY Airport Granfondo, taking place on Sunday, May 4, in Bergamo under the aegis of the Italian Cycling Federation, the overall winners will receive a unique and highly valuable artistic trophy.

This prestigious bronze bas-relief, crafted by Maestro Rando, is an exclusive artwork that, as in previous years, draws inspiration from elements related to both aviation and cycling. Following the fuselage in 2023 and the aircraft window in 2024, this year, Maestro Rando has chosen the rudder as the main symbol of the trophy.

The rudder represents safety, control, and direction – fundamental values in cycling and core principles for the organizers of the BGY Airport Granfondo, who have always been committed to promoting road safety and protecting athletes. To make this choice even more iconic, the organization has designed a graphic version of the artwork enhanced with the Italian tricolor, symbolizing the deep connection with the tradition and excellence of Italian cycling.

The trophy, reserved for the overall winners, is a true sculpture: entirely made of bronze, it weighs an impressive 3.8 kg, stands over 20 cm tall, 30 cm wide, and has a thickness of 2.5 cm. A recognition of great symbolic and artistic value, destined to honor the commitment and determination of the key players in this international granfondo.

A miniature replica of the trophy will be featured on the medals awarded to all finishers – a small but meaningful gesture from the organization to reward the efforts of those who achieve a significant personal goal: crossing the finish line.
