BGY Airport Granfondo 2025: Registration Now Open

The BGY Airport Granfondo, one of the most anticipated cycling events of the year, is officially open for registration for its 2025 edition! Cyclists from around the globe are invited to sign up and gear up for a day of sport, competition, and fun on the roads of Bergamo.

The 27th edition of the Granfondo, and the third under the BGY Airport name, will take place on Sunday, May 4, 2025, with both the start and finish located in the heart of Bergamo. Participants will have the opportunity to experience a unique blend of cycling passion and the charm of the Bergamo area. The routes will wind through the picturesque hills and legendary roads of the Bergamo valleys, offering breathtaking views and challenges suitable for cyclists of all skill levels. Many of these roads have been featured in stages of the Giro d’Italia and various editions of the Giro di Lombardia, traversed by some of the greatest champions of past and present.

The event is organized by G.M.S. in collaboration with SACBO and Milan Bergamo Airport.

Three Routes for Every Level

The BGY Airport Granfondo 2025 offers three distinct routes, each designed to cater to different levels of fitness and experience:

  • Short Route: 89.4 km with 1,400 meters of elevation gain, perfect for those who want to enjoy the beauty of the region without tackling overly challenging climbs.
  • Medium Route: 128.8 km with 2,100 meters of elevation gain, ideal for cyclists looking to test themselves on a varied course.
  • Long Route: 162.1 km with 3,050 meters of elevation gain, a true test for experienced riders, featuring climbs and descents that will challenge endurance and skill.

How to Register

Registration opens on Monday, October 28, 2024. Participants can register in person at G.M.S. Asd, Via G. Da Campione, 24c – 24124 Bergamo (tel. +39 035.211721) or by filling out the registration form and submitting the fee through one of the following methods:

  1. Bank Transfer: Payments can be made to Banco BPM – Largo Porta Nuova, 24100 Bergamo (Italy) – IBAN: IT53U 05034 111210000000 26564 (BIC: BAPPIT21AA1), payable to G.M.S. Asd, Via G. Da Campione, 24c – 24124 Bergamo. Send the payment receipt and registration form via email or post to: G.M.S. Asd, Via G. Da Campione, 24c – 24124 Bergamo, Italy – info@granfondobgy.it – granfondobgy.it. Be sure to specify the participant’s details in the payment description.
  2. Online: Registration can also be completed online using the official system at granfondobgy.it, with payment made directly by credit card.

There are four registration options available: Standard, Standard with Jersey, All Bike Types (including e-bikes and tandems), and Charity Registration.

Registration Deadline: Saturday, April 12, 2025, unless otherwise specified by the organizing committee.

Registration Fees

  • €45: Includes race number, event magazine, information materials, membership fee, timing service, commemorative medal (awarded at the finish line), personalized participation diploma (downloadable from the official website), pasta party voucher, discounted pasta party voucher for accompanying person, medical assistance, mechanical support (excluding spare parts), bike storage at the finish, refreshment points, final refreshments, showers, and results notification via SMS and email.
  • €95: In addition to the above, includes the official “BGY Airport Granfondo 2025” jersey, made by Santini Cycling, with a unique limited edition design.
  • All Bike Types Registration: The BGY Airport Granfondo is open to all bicycle types, including gravel, MTB, e-bikes, vintage, and more.
  • Charity Registration: There are 20 Charity Registrations available at €250, with proceeds (minus the registration fee) donated to “L’Impronta Cooperativa Sociale” (https://www.coopimpronta.it/). Charity registrants will receive:
    • VIP start position (grids 2/600)
    • The official BGY Airport Granfondo jersey by Santini Cycling with a unique limited edition design.
    • Race number, event magazine, information materials, membership fee, timing service, commemorative medal, personalized diploma, pasta party voucher, discounted voucher for accompanying person, medical assistance, mechanical support, bike storage at the finish, refreshment points, final refreshments, and showers.

Bike-Friendly Airport

One of the great advantages for participants is the proximity of the event to Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY), located just a few kilometers from Via Marzabotto, the event’s focal point. The airport is easily accessible with services catering to cyclists, including a cycling-pedestrian path directly connecting the airport to the city center. Additionally, Milan Bergamo Airport is the first in Europe to receive Bike-Friendly certification and offers a Bike Office for assembly, disassembly, and storage of bicycles.
