Route to Bergamo for the third edition of the BGY Airport Granfondo
Announced the third edition of the Bergamo Granfondo that will cross the city and the valleys of Bergamo on Sunday 4 May 2025, organized in collaboration with SACBO and Milan Bergamo International Airport.
We are thrilled to announce that the race towards the third edition of the BGY Airport Granfondo has officially begun!
After the great success of the first two editions, with the participation of thousands of cycling enthusiasts, the event is back to make the heart of Bergamo beat. Mark the date in red on your agenda: Sunday 4 May 2025.
An Event in Growth
The G.M.S. organization, in collaboration with SACBO and Milan Bergamo Airport, is aiming even higher. The decision to set the date for 2025 was taken with the Serie A calendar in mind, to avoid overlapping with Atalanta’s home matches and thus guarantee a first-class security plan. The competent authorities and the Prefecture are already at work to ensure an optimal traffic flow, both in the city and in the province.
Accessibility and Innovation
One of the great conveniences for participants is the proximity of the competition venue to Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY). Located just a few kilometres from Via Marzabotto, the nerve centre of the event, the airport is easily accessible thanks to its dedicated services for cyclists. A cycle-pedestrian ring directly connects the airport to the city centre. In addition, the airport is the first in Europe to obtain Bike Friendly certification and has a Bike Office for the assembly, disassembly and storage of bicycles.
Fascinating Routes
Participants will be able to choose between three breathtaking routes, touching on the iconic points of Bergamo and its province:
- Short Route:4 km with 1,400 metres of positive elevation gain
- Medium Route:8 km with 2,100 metres of positive elevation gain
- Long Route: 162,1 km with 3.050 metres of positive elevation gain
From the climbs of Selvino, to the suggestive Orrido di Bracca, to the panoramic views of the Gallo, each route offers a unique and unforgettable challenge.

Further details on registration and side events will be announced in the coming weeks. Stay tuned so you don’t miss any news about this unmissable event.
A Growing Tourist Trend
Bergamo was the Capital of Culture 2023, and although it has come to an end, tourism in the city continues to grow. The figures are promising: in January 2024, more than 31,000 tourists visited the city, with over 61,000 presences. 2023 was a record year, with over 1.3 million arrivals and 2.8 million presences, surpassing pre-pandemic numbers.
